Reiki is a system of energy healing From Japan using methods channeled by Dr. Mikao Usui,  by legend at the end of a 21 day fast and meditation on Mount Kuruama in Japan. The Actual history of Reiki has been somewhat shrouded in legend. Only recently has information about  Usui Sensei's real life become avaiable  outside of Japan. What is certain is that The Usui System of Natural Healing Was introduced to the West by Mrs. Hawayo Takata, from Hawaii, who received Reiki Attunements from Dr. Hayashi, who had a Reiki clinic in Tokyo.  She was visiting relatives in Japan and had successful treatments for a chronic illness at Dr. Hayashi's Clinic.  

   Reiki and other healing energies are valuable tools for anyone whether they have health, emotional, mental, spiritual issues or want to empower their personal evolution. Many People also like to get regular hands on Reiki treatments as a refreshing and relaxing treat for themselves, in the same way that they might get a massage or a facial, a guided visualization session or a mud bath. Fees for Reiki treatments and attunements vary greatly and range from free to expensive.

During hands on treatments the practitioner places their hands on locations that correspond to traditional chakra and Meridian system centers from traditional Indian and Chinese Medicine and includes many of the the Hawaiian Ao system energy centers. The hand positions are not exclusive to Reiki and effective Reiki Treatments may be done simply by placing a hand any where on the body or by advanced practitioners without body contact at all.
