I remember in grade school that we would often write our names in brightly colored paint and fold the paper to create facinating images this is a simple version of this effect. There are many possible uses for this effect in tags stationary and so forth. I don't really have a knack for formal tutorials so this is more of a description .

I have a pen and graphics tablet so it is easy for me to write my name but one could use an attractive font and type your name or other message You can also get interesting effect with doodles .

Choose a colorful gradient. I've used one of my spectrum gradients in the circular mode. The simplest way to make one of these is to write your name or type your message using the font and gradient of your choice on a transparent layer and duplicate the layer and mirror or flip the duplicate layer. Use the mover tool to arrange the layers until the image pleases you. You can rotate the image, resize it, use a texture or use a filter effects to give the image more of a smeared look like the real folded art pieces have. These can be used in tags as well as for decorative purposes and stationary. Some people write a prayer or wish / spell and create the mirror art so that they have a reminder or focus which only they can read.
