Traditions of Secrecy and Power Animals


Totems, Power animals and spirit guides are not the exclusive property
of Native American Spirituality but are found throughout the world in
so many spiritual traditions that I feel quite safe in saying that most likely everyone here has a cultural or ancestral connection to a
tradition that contains teachings about and work with them.

As for the issue of ceremonial secrecy.  Animal totems are in many
traditions part of the open and public information. and not exclusive
to the secret or ceremonial part of the tradition.
Particularly among people who experience meeting animal totems but who
are not educated about them and need to find answers about their
experience the internet is a valuable resource. 
I do encourage people to be discrete about many things but general information  does not fall into  the catagory of secret things.

I also question adherence in many cases to traditions of secrecy. I appreciate the historical need for that due to persecution and to certain realities about focus and manifestation among other things. I respect that some things are private and inner traditions.  However, most true Spiritual secrets are those things that can only be understood by direct realization and by mystic experience. These things remain secret even in public until realization occurs. My experience is that many more people are now than in the past areawaking to mystical realizations and that the tradition of close held secrecy is an impediment to their spiritual evolution. The Internet and e-mail are part of what the universe has manifested to help with
spiritual realization by providing a resource for communication an agreater scale than previously known.
The internet and e-mail are a mundane manifestation / replicant of the"web of light " the all encompassing pattern of energy which connects all life in the universe and is the carrier of Healing energies, such as Reiki, and telepathic communication, and spiritual communication and guidance.
